Airspeed Made It Happen for Cinemalaya 18

Airspeed is proud to be the official courier and sponsor of the 18th Philippine Independent Film Festival and Competition or Cinemalaya. This year’s theme, “Breaking the Noise,” runs from August 5 until October 31, 2022. Through this partnership, Airspeed assists in moving all necessary items and paraphernalia for the two-month run of Cinemalaya film festival in selected Philippine locations.

Cinemalaya 18 returned to Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) after two years of pandemic — thus, making a ring light its symbol for this year depicting the rise of movies from the pandemic. This event is a festival and competition for the Independent Filipino film makers, which grants them financial support for their film production. 

This year, 11 full length film and 12 short film entries were shortlisted as the finalists on the competition and shown at the CCP Theater. Finalists were awarded last August 14, 2022.

Cinemalaya is an annual festival established to develop and support the production of cinematic works of our country’s independent filmmakers who boldly articulate and narrate Filipino experiences with fresh insight and artistic integrity. 

According to the Film Development Council of the Philippines chairman, Tirso Cruz III, Cinemalaya has became the gateway for the generation of Filipino filmmakers through the years— emphasizing how this event paved the way to recognize new film makers and develop them to represent the country.
